TOYOTA SPEEDWAY AT IRWINDALE – RACE FUEL

We are not allowed to dispense TORCO race fuel at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale. If you need fuel you must purchase from the on site pumps, 110 octane only.

“FINISH LINE” 2 HOUR FEATURE MOVIE TO BROADCAST ON SPIKE TV

As most of you will remember, we were involved in the filming and production of a 2 hour feature movie with the Speed Trucks starring Scott Baio, Dan Lauria, Sam Page and others. The movie is now scheduled for national broadcast on SPIKE TV on April 21st at 9:00 PM EST / 6:00 PM PST. We will send additional information on this next week.

GENERAL MEETING DISCUSSION ITEMS SURVEY

We delivered a General Meeting Discussion Items Survey to each Owner, Driver and Crew Member on or about March 26th. We have received 26 returned surveys from the 75 delivered. Of the 26 received, 23 of them reported some the following; “It’s not broken, don’t fix it,” “We agreed to not changing any rules once the season begins,” “We have no problems or issues,” “Leave things alone, we don’t need changes,” “The series is great and only a couple of people have complaints but they just need to read the rule book or talk to you.”

However, the following statements were also made via the surveys; “The rule that puts all trucks involved in bringing out the yellow flag needs to be changed as it is not fair to the driver that gets taken out,” “Like to discuss the rule that states all trucks involved in the caution be sent to the rear of the field…the leaders should not be penalized by a lapped truck if in fact it is clear that the lapped truck made the initial contact,” “The rule to live by and can be applied is the overtaking truck has all the responsibility in making the pass clean. The front tire at the door number is clear and enforceable. This rule may not apply all the way through the corner but once the passing truck has been able to get beside to meet the definition it is now time for the driver being overtaken to give racing room.”    

There were other minor issues brought to my attention however, they were resolved via telephone. We will now place the issue of changing the rule of all trucks involved in bringing out a yellow to be placed to the rear of the field to only the truck causing the yellow being placed back. The 2008 Rules Committee will review first and then if needed, we will move for a general vote by the Owners and Drivers.

NON-LICENSED DRIVERS

It is illegal for any person to shake down, drive, practice, qualify or race a Speed Truck without an approved ASA and Speed Truck Challenge license, at any sanctioned practice or race of the ASA Speed Truck Challenge. At Havasu 95 Speedway and Tucson Raceway Park we have been made aware of people driving the Speed Trucks on the race track without appropriate licensing.

EZ-UP INSTANT SHELTERS

We have a new supply of EZ-UP’s for sale to the series Owners and Drivers. We will not have the supply at the race tracks until such time our new parts trailer has been completed. We will however accept orders via email or telephone and deliver your EZ-UP’s at the next upcoming race. The EZ-UP’s have ASA Speed Truck Challenge printed on the valances of each tent. These are the “Top of the Line” Eclipse II Instant Shelters with white powder coated frames. Here is what we have in sizes and prices:
