| About ASA Truck Series |
![]() The ASA TRUCK SERIES, now in its 16th racing season, is excited to start another season soon. Todd and Lisa McLauchlan, series owners, are proud to announce the blending of three truck divisions from across the Southwest into the ASA Truck Series. The ASA Trucks run across the Southwest and race at the Lucas Oil I-10 Speedway on the Colorado River Fairgrounds in Blythe, CA, Firebird International Raceway Road Course in Phoenix, AZ, Havasu 95 Raceway in Lake Havasu, AZ, and Las Vegas Motor Speedway’s “Bullring.” The 2011 Rules & Procedures Book is currently posted on this site and small 2012 amendments will follow. There are changes in the engine section and updates from last year are shown in blue. The ASA TRUCK SERIES will see truck counts swell with over 50 racing teams getting prepared for the 2012 season. The series is the premier racing group under the 40 year old American Speed Association (ASA), which is one of the leading auto racing sanctioning bodies in the U.S. with over 15,000 members, 12 ASA racing divisions, 37 ASA Member race tracks and sanctions over 900 racing events nationwide each year. ASA has nurtured champions like Jimmie Johnson, Johnny Benson, Rusty Wallace, Mark Martin, Terry LaBonte, Darrell Waltrip, Ken Schrader, Matt Kenseth, Jimmy Spencer, Kenny Wallace, Davey Allison, Alan Kulwicki, and Dale Earnhardt Sr., to name a few.
ASA TRUCK SERIES offers a touring series for many levels of racers, young and old, experienced or not. A fourteen year-old go kart champion can race door-to-door with a seasoned ASA TRUCK or Super Late Model veteran. Our series allows drivers with different backgrounds to race together garnering valuable race experience and building character and integrity for advancement in racing. A road course specialist can learn to race circle track at a facility like the ½ mile, high banked TOYOTA Speedway at Irwindale in Los Angeles, California and still show their skills on a 3.1 mile road course like Phoenix, Arizona’s Firebird International Raceway. The series has seen men and women of all ages and levels of driving experience run together to put on a great show at numerous tracks throughout the Southwest.
The series benefited from some rule changes last year, starting with a tire rule where each competitor must race on the tires they qualify on and a shock rule with a claim feature. Most importantly, there will be a 50% reduction of the Inspection Fee and no engine seal fee. These changes are critical to achieve rules of parity and address the current economic conditions and the need to help each team financially. There are various rental programs available from "arrive and drive" to getting a truck ready for you to pilot your own team.
The ASA Truck Series wants to help control costs, ensure parity for the competitors and “get back to basics.” ASA TRUCK racing is a competitive, demanding sport, but can also be very fun, rewarding and include many friends and family along the way. Many of the teams are made up of father and son, brothers, husbands and wives and brothers and sisters. Other family members can come to cheer on their racers or get involved with the teams. The series success relies on the premise that the drivers all need each other to maintain strength in the series and know that other teams will lend a hand when needed, yet race you tough come race time.
The ASA TRUCK SERIES’ current group of sponsors and marketing partners includes: Advertising Edge, DJ Safety, Hoosier Racing Tires, Mechanix Wear, Mr. Gasket /ACCEL / Mallory Ignitions, Allied Racing Wheels, Frank’s Radio Service, QA-1 Shocks, Naake Suspension Specialists, VP Racing Fuels, STR and Norris Racing Bodies. |
