Since its inception in 1995, ASA Speed Truck Challenge has been committed first and foremost to its driver's safety, both on and off the track. Circle track and road course racing is a dangerous sport. Despite hundreds of safety precautions at both the grass roots racing and higher levels, eventually something happens where a driver gets hurt or killed. It is because of this that the Speed Truck Challenge series is constantly reviewing its safety procedures and rules by which our drivers and teams must abide. By creating a position of Safety Director, ASA Speed Truck Challenge president, Jay Rutherford has made it very simple for his drivers. Either follow the rules and the guidelines that have been placed into the book or don't race here. Parents and family expect nothing less from a series president that has raced himself and knows that drivers will take shortcuts due to time, cost or style. "We don't expect our drivers to have the very latest in driving fashion," says Rutherford. "We just expect all elements to meet SFI standards and that they make every effort to work within our safety program, " he concluded. If any current or potential driver, parents, or family has any questions about this strict safety policy or would like to talk to the ASA STC Safety Director for clarifications, please call us at 909-949-4780. |
